“I get out my work and have a show for myself before I have it publicly. I make up my own mind about it–how good or bad or indifferent it is. After that the critics can write what they please. I have already settled it for myself so flattery and criticism go down the same drain and I am quite free.”
- Georgia O’Keeffe
Georgia would have been 125 today…..she was remarkable, in that she remained independent from the mercurial nature of art trends. Her truth was in her own vision. Her ideal was to find the essential, abstract forms in nature.
More than anything, I think she gave many of us permission…or at least the inspiration, to build a creative life on our own terms….walk in peace, Georgia, in your precious New Mexico hills..Feliz Cumpleanos!…be free…..

O’Keeffe gave so many of us wings–to dare and to do as we please. May that legacy continue to All who follow–
